Bunya Halasz – Successional Agriculture, Syntropic Farming and Food Forestry – Getting down to the details of working with succession for Mega Productivity!

In this presentation I wish to outline some of the key aspects of the innovations of the Successional Agroforestry process as practiced in Brazil through exploring case studies there and to then demonstrate through slides of the aforementioned projects in Nth NSW how I have been adapting these principles to Australia’s Culture, Economy and the Ecology of Northern Rivers NSW. This Successional Agroforestry work has become the backbone of the PDC and APC Cert 4 training at The Byron Community College and is the driving force behind the development of a number of highly innovative projects in nth NSW including ‘The Farm’ at Byron Bay’s Food Production System that supplies the incredibly successful ‘Three Blue Ducks’ Restaurant and Café on their site. It is also fuelling the abundant kitchens of ‘Paradise One’ Permaculture Retreat which I have been coordinating for the last 5 years as well as the evolution of a mixed orchard/native timber and bush tukka project managed by the Bundjalung Tribal Council and many more projects.
