Bunya Halasz is a life-long gardener and lover of nature. Through the lens of Permaculture, Bunya works as a designer, educator and garden mentor to support people and communities to explore an intimate connection with the elements of nature to grow food, fuel and fibre as well as facilitating pathways of knowledge and skill sharing.
Bunya completed his Permaculture Design Course with Robyn Francis in 1998 and has worked as a Permaculture Designer, and Agricultural Consultant in Australia, New Zealand, South East Asia and Brazil. He graduated from The Australian National University in 2004 with a Bachelor of Science, majoring in Resource and Environmental Management. Since this time, Bunya has worked as a Community Market Gardener, Ecologist, Permaculture Producer and Educator with Northey Street City Farm and Byron Community College, as well as through his business Growing Roots Permaculture.
In recent years Bunya’s focus has been on Various Succesional Agroforestry Projects in The Byron Shire of Northern NSW, managing production Systems with ‘The Farm’ in Byron Bay, ‘Paradise One’ Permaculture Resort and Bundjalung Tribal Society amongst other ongoing projects
