Call for volunteers for APC14
The Permaculture Convergences worldwide are organised by the people, for the people.
Indeed, permaculture is all about community spirit. Thus, volunteers are at the heart of these events to make them run! The APC14 team itself is 100% made of volunteers.
And because we care for the people, we want everybody to have a great experience at APC14!
Get involved in APC14 and help make an unforgettable event for all of us! Moreover, by joining our team and making this event happen, you will also help bring permaculture to more and more places, and reach more people!
Whether you are based in the region or abroad, whether you can spare a little bit of time or a lot more, there is surely something you can help us with!
The volunteer positions are unpaid, but we are working toward being able to rebate all or part of the volunteers convergence ticket expenses. The amount of rebate will depend on the number of volunteers, amount of volunteer work time and the final budget for APC14. You will still need to purchase your convergence tickets, but we will organise this together closer to the date.
Examples of volunteer roles…
Permaculture Festival – Sunday 15th Apr 2018.
The Australian Capital Territory (ACT) Permaculture Festival 2018 is the first permaculture festival happening in the ACT area, and it will not be be the last! These are exciting times since we are bringing, for the first time, such a big permaculture event to the public.
We need volunteers for set-up and pack-down, welcome stall, guest information services, parking marshals, photo/video (you need to have your own camera), children’s activities (Working With Vulnerable People card needed), AV and technical support, feedback survey, and we also need all-rounders.
Courses and tours will be happening before the Convergence itself.
The courses aim at giving people a first taste of permaculture with Permaculture Design Courses, or help them go further with the Permaculture Teacher Training. There will also be courses with a special theme for those who want to explore more precise topics (like Mandala gardens).
The tours aim at enabling people to discover permaculture places in the area around Canberra and the South East/New South wales region.
Also, for the Convergence, we aim at welcoming several hundreds of people – so we need to be ready when they all arrive! Therefore, on the Sunday just before, we need help to set things up!
We need volunteers for the tours (help with driving people to different places in a minivan) and for the Sunday 15th set up.
During the Convergence – Monday 16th April to Thursday 19th April 2018.
The convergence will happen at the Greenhills conference centre, close to Canberra, in a quiet space surrounded by nature. Therefore, we will guide attendees to the venue, provide them with meals and help them with their accommodation. We will make it easy for everybody to attend talks, workshops and various activities so that everyone can have a lot of interaction and a lot of fun!
We need volunteers for set-up and pack-down, welcome desk, guest information services, accommodation, talks (room set-up, AV and technical support, time keeper, speaker liaison), catering (food liaison, meal set-up and clean up), transport coordination, design display gallery, children’s activities, media coverage (photo/video), waste management (we are aiming for as little rubbish as possible!), and we also need all-rounders.
